Benoit paire has been really good lately, he won las week at the Winston Salem open. Bedene has been ok, he managed to pass the first round, but is definetly one of the easiest opponents in the second round. Paire looks like he can make a dark horse apperance here in New York this year. Paire wants to take this match quickly and start thinking about the third round.

Zverev  is completley out of his game. He barely managed to beat Albot in 5 sets. The American has home field advatange today, besides he has better tennis. His line is extremely good and its an opportunity you can't loose. Tiafoe is a better player than Albot and he might throw the raquet of Zverev hand. I never thought Zverev could even make it to the second round, but now that he did, he is definetly loosing now.

Zverev is not the player we expected this season. He has lost and find himself in trouble against all type of players this season. Albot has a great game, his season has been ok so far and he could definitely advance to the second round today. Today Zverev has something to prove and in my opinion he won’t. Albot will win this match in 4 or 5 sets. Zverev has many things to improve, and a R1 elimination in the last major of the year will definitely teach him that for next season he has to change many things, as he is a great tennis prospect and we expect great things from him. 

Dominic Thiem is a serious contender this US Open. On the other side Fabbiano looked good at the beginning of the season, but now days he does not look as strong. Thiem is an extremely good hard court player, he’ll take this match in 3 straight sets.

Even though Nadal will take this match and advance to the second round, Millman will win at least one set. Last year Millman managed to pull off the huge upset. Millman has the game that can trouble Nadals game, not enough to take the match but definetly something to affect him. Nadal, number 2 seed, comes from winning Montreal open and has a perfect game, but today he’ll loose a set. 

Felix is playing really good, shapo has managed to win many games in the past tournaments, but today the youngster will take the canadian match in 3 straight sets.

John Isner was playing the best tennis of his life until he injured himself with a terrible fracture. He is working hard in this return to tennis, this match could really prove something about his return, in my opinion it will prove something positive. Garcia-Lopez is one of the weakest players in the draw and Isner is the heavy favorite in today's match. Isner powerful serve will definetly give hime all his games, if he manages to break Garcia-Lopez at least once per set, Isner will take this home in 3 straight sets.

Both players promised a much much better year than the one they are having. But this tournament has been different Steve Johnson has been amazing through this week, he has not drop a set in neither of his three matches. Millman has managed to win and make it to the semifinal but he has definetly worked harder for it. Millman had a First round BYE, then came back one set to win the match vs Ceccinato and last round he beat the Dutch Haase in two sets. But this week has definetly been better for Johnson, he's been inspiered and is the crowd favorite because he is one of the 2 american players left. He will take full advantage.

This two players have met each other 12 times, Benoit Paire leads 8-4. Both of these players have had an espectacular tournament, both have been dominant in their previous rounds. Paire has found himself in a little more trouble, specially yesterday vs his country man Humber where he managed to win in 3 sets. Pablo Careeno-Busta had a dominant round of 16 vs Lorenzo Sonego, winning 7-6 6-0. Paire will continue to play his agressive game, thing is that Pablo has a really good defense. Even though Pablo is not the most powerful hitter in the game, he gives very little away and can spread the court really well. The tie breaker is that Pablo finds it really hard to beat Paire, he has not beaten him in a hard court since US Open 2014. I believe Paire will take this one again.

The yankees lost yesterday even with their ace pitcher German on the mount. The 72-53 A's are hot, but the 83-44 Yanks should not have a problem this match. Today the Yankees face Mike Fiers, the second lowest ERA (2.52) in the AL. Problem is Yankees like to hit, they like to hit dingers. Yesterday even though they made some HR they porbably went unsatisfied, beware of yankees bat tonight. The Yankees will probably loose some runs against the A's, Happ is pitching and he has a high ERA. But the amount of runs lost will be much less than the amounts of runs gained. I just feel sorry for Fiers that after his impressive year, his ERA is going to be affected by this match. Yankees have something to prove tonight, give the A's a little taste of what to expect from the Postseason which is just a month away.

Shapovalov is in shape, hes proved everyone he has been playing extremly good tennis. The 20 year old finds himself an even younger player Kecmanovic (19). Shapovalov has much more experience in the ATP, this will definetly be in Shapos favor. Miomir has been playing extremley well lately, last week he made it to the round of 16 after beating Zverev. Shapovalov has not been so good lately, he lost in 2nd round in cinncinati last week vs Poullie, and hes record this years has not been up to the expectations. 1 week before the US open Shapo is trying to make a comeback and today he will start by advancing to the Quarter Finals. Odds are in Shapos favor and in this match I believe they are correct.

Pablo Carreno Busta will take this one. Here is why. Even though this two have already met each other this year and Sonego took the match in two sets (grass), Pablo Carreno Busta is playing better tennis latley. Pablo has found some form lately, he managed to make 3rd round in Cinncinati last week where he lost vs Novak Djokovic. Lets also remember Pablo is a former US OPEN semifinalist, this means Pablo is good in hard courts. Pablo comes from a tough match where he had to work hard to beat Copil in 3 sets, Lorenzo comes from an easier match where he only lost 5 games. But Lorenzo will face a tougher player today. Lorenzo is an extremly consistent player, he also has really good court coverage. The Spaniard has this too, but Pablo has more dictation and stepping in courage. Lets hope this proves the difference.

Rublev comes from one of his best weeks in Cinncinati last week, tournament in which he beat Federer and later on lost the final vs an unstopable Medvedev. Andrey Rublev looks confindent this week, he has been playing extremly good tennis, his game is on point. Rublev looked dominant in his past game where he beat Albert Ramos Vinolas in 3 sets. On the other side we have Sam Querrey, he is expected to win the tournament. The problem is that his numbers show his struggle this season in hard courts. Querrey has amazing stats in GRASS courts, but on hard courts he is 7-7 which is not the stat the predicted champion will have. Querrey big serve and powerfull forehand worked perfectly in his last match, but I think Rublev has the power and confidence to control Querry's strenghts, but also to expose his lack of mobility. Querrey might find himself in a pickle today, Rublev takes this match in 2 sets.

Francis Tiafoe has not been in the greatest shape since his amazing Australian Open Debut this season where he managed to make the quarter finals. Tiafoe made it to the round of 16 becuase he's opponent, Jeremy Chardy, retired yesterday when trailing 4-2 in the first set. Tiafoe is cold, he didn't had a chance to play yesterday. On the other side Filip Krajinovic went on a massive brawl vs Tomas Berdych. The 27 year old made the round of 16 only by beating Berdych in 3 sets, match where Krajinovic hit the ball extremley well, if he can continue to deliver the court like he did yesterday the serbian should have no trouble winning this match and advancing to the Quarter Finals.

Its a risky bet, Tigres is the actual Liga MX champion and the are hot. Problem is they had a slight slip this weekend, Tigres tied vs Atletico San Luis. On the other side america has been dominant through the league with a 4-1-0 record. Tigres does have a better squad, including their amazinig stricker Andre Pierre Gignac. America has been selling their star players to european teams, which is perfect because they are gaining lots of money. Money which got them Paco Memo Ochoa, Mexico´s best goalkeeper who's debut is tonight. Also America has Guido Pizarro and Bruno Valdez, both are in form and playing the best football of their life. Leagues cup is a new tournament, both teams are adicted to trophies. Definetly the best two teams in Mexico. They have 2 matches in one week, today and saturday. Both games in Monterrey, Tigres house. America is winning one at least, why not this one.

 

Tomas Berdych first won in a while vs Andrea Seppi in the first round is definetly something we should look forward too. Berdych has been injured for the past year, even though he played Wimbledon, he was not ready for it. But now, Tomas is fit, hes looking to win more and more, for the love of tennis. When healthy, Tomas berdych is dangerous, in his first three tournaments of the year Tomas finished runner up in Doha, reached the fourth round in the australian open and reached the semifinal in Montpellier, tornament in which he beat Filip Krajinovic, todays rival. Berdych will defeat the 27 year old with a 55/59 record. Just like he did in Montpellier Quarter Final where Berdych took the match 7-6, 6-7, 7-5.

APOEL wants a Champions league spot. They will go out there today and literally play their souls out at home. The problem APOEL Nicosia have is the team they are playing against. APOEL has taken out Quarabag (Azerbaijan best team) in the past qualification round. Even after loosing at home APOEL took the game away in Azerbaijan. Today is different, today APOEL is playing the champions league semi finalist. APOEL can’t afford to loose at home because next match in Amsterdam will be really really tough! But AJAX, even though their squad is completely different from last year, is still a great team. I believe that AJAX will not pressure as bad because they don’t mind having to win at home, APOEL on the other side, won’t risk loosing which is why they will be conservative. The tie may seem risky, but from my perspective it’s more than possible.

Rublev comes from loosing a quick quarter final vs the Western and Southern open champion Medvedev. Rublev has been playing great tennis. Fabiano is a great match up although today Rublev is winning in two sets as he prepares for he’s best action in the US OPEN.
